You may feel nervous about the first session, this is perfectly normal.
At the first session we will talk about you and what brings you to counselling. I will give you a brief overview of how I work to ensure you feel this fits with you. I will listen to your story, where you are having difficulties and where you would like to see improvement. This is a time for you to ask any questions. The counselling relationship is mutual so we can explore how we can work together.
The content you share within sessions is confidential. However, if I feel you or anyone else may be at risk, I may have to consider breaking confidentiality. Should this be necessary, I would do my best to discuss it with you first.
I have regular supervision as part of an ethical requirement and to ensure our work together is therapeutically beneficial. This is confidential as your contact information is not disclosed.
I will keep brief notes about our sessions. These are confidential and will be destroyed once our sessions end.
How long will I need therapy?
Sessions are 50 mins long and will take place at the same time each week whenever possible.
Counselling can be focused and short-term or open-ended where you can have as many sessions as you require and work at a pace that feels right for you.
How much will it cost?
Each session lasts 50 minutes and costs £42. I provide open ended counselling according to the needs of the individual.
I also have a limited number of sessions available at a reduced fee of £30 for clients who are on a low income.
